About this Project

St. Louis County, in cooperation with the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), is leading an intersection safety improvement project in 2027 on MNTH 73 at Town Line Rd (CSAH 16/CSAH 60) located within the City of Hibbing. The project includes the following components:

  1. Construct left- and right-turn lanes on MNTH 73.
  2. Realign both approaches of Town Line Rd to intersect MNTH 73 at a perpendicular angle. Town Line Rd currently intersects MNTH 73 at approximately 35 degrees.
  3. Install roadway lighting to illuminate the intersection.

The County Road Safety Plan ranks this intersection 33 out of 1,488 intersections which places this intersection in the top three (3) percent by risk. and are proven safety countermeasures to reduce the risk of serious crashes.
