About this Project

St. Louis County is leading a project to construct left-turn lanes on US 2 at the intersection of CR 223 (Munger Shaw Rd) in Solway Township. This project will include the permanent closure of the connection of CR 161 (Old Hwy 2) with US 2 (located 0.14 mile east of Munger Shaw Rd). This project is anticipated to be constructed between June and October, 2024.

Location

On US 2 beginning 0.25 mile west of Munger Shaw Rd and ending 0.25 mile east of Munger Shaw Rd.

Traffic Impacts

St. Louis County plans to begin construction of turns lanes on TH 2 at Munger Shaw Road on Monday, August 19. A full road closure of TH 2 including the intersection of Munger Shaw Road will occur during the entire project. The closure will last through September 28.

Access to the Solway Town Hall will be from the north only during the closure. Access to Munger Tavern will be from the south on Munger Shaw Road or from the west on Old Highway 2. Access to Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church will be from the east only.

The detour for Munger Shaw Road will utilize Hermantown Road, Jeffrey Road, and Maple Grove Road. The TH 2 posted detour will utilize Canosia Road, Maple Grove Road, and Midway Road.

Property Access Details

This project will be performed with a road closure. Houses with no access to a side street will access their homes either by driving through the construction site, or walking on a marked path to their home when road access is not feasible. We will try and keep the amount of time that walking is required to a minimum. Persons with disabilities should contact Steve Krasaway to discuss special accommodations.

During the placement of curb and gutter, concrete sidewalk, and concrete driveways, vehicular access to your property will be limited. The Contractor will contact you prior to any disruptions to access to your property to discuss the details on where to park.

If you would like to have any additional work performed on your driveway, yard, or sidewalk, please contact the Contractor directly.
