About this Project

The CSAH 25 (Vermilion Drive) reconstruction project will encompass a complete reconstruction of Vermilion Drive from Trunk Highway 53 to 300 feet west of CSAH 24. The scope of work will include the reconstruction of the pavement section, curb and gutter, sidewalk, selected storm sewer components, and lighting system. Curb and gutter will be added from Trunk Highway 53 to 1st Street SW and a six-foot sidewalk will be added along the north side of Vermilion Drive from TH 53 to 1st Street SW. Intersection improvements with bump outs are planned for Vermilion Drive and River Street. Construction will occur in 2024 and the project will be phased to accommodate access to residents and businesses.

Location

CSAH 25 from Trunk Highway 53 to 300 feet west of CSAH 24

Traffic Impacts

  • Vermilion Dr will be constructed in phases, there will be detour signs in place one week prior to starting each phase.
  • Ulland Brothers started subcutting and backfilling with sand and Class 5 from TH 53 on Wednesday (7/10) working East towards CSAH 24. This will take approximately 2-3 weeks. The road will be closed during this time and the contractor will keep driveway access to homeowners as much as possible.

Property Access Details

This project will be performed with a road closure. Houses with no access to a side street will access their homes either by driving through the construction site, or walking on a marked path to their home when road access is not feasible. We will try and keep the amount of time that walking is required to a minimum. Persons with disabilities should contact Eric Fallstrom to discuss special accommodations.

During the placement of curb and gutter, concrete sidewalk, and concrete driveways, vehicular access to your property will be limited. The Contractor will contact you prior to any disruptions to access to your property to discuss the details on where to park.

If you would like to have any additional work performed on your driveway, yard, or sidewalk, please contact the Contractor directly.

Mailboxes

As part of St. Louis County’s safety policy, new mailbox supports & mailboxes meeting the Federal crash guidelines will be installed by the Contractor. The mailboxes will be installed on the South side of the road due to the new sidewalk on the North side of the road. The old supports & mailboxes will be deposited next to your driveway for possible salvage by the owners. About 2 weeks after installation of the new supports & mailboxes, any supports & mailboxes not salvaged by the property owner will be picked up for disposal.
